How was your first day at Expleo?
Smooth, everything went well.
WHAT’S A TYPICAL DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CAPABILITY LEAD LIKE?
The days are rarely typical due to the variety of requests and tasks. A Capability Lead’s primary responsibilities include providing resource solutions for most of our marine accounts. This involves defining the approach based on interpreting customer requests from a technical perspective, appropriately allocating resources, and redeploying them as projects near completion.
Long-term line management is also a key responsibility, shared with project managers, to better balance immediate project delivery needs with ongoing professional development.
Additionally, alongside our Chief Naval Architect, I’m leading the formation of our maritime strategic team. Our aim is to bring in key capabilities to meet existing demands and build a team that can proactively expand our services, thereby expanding our services for current customers and attracting new ones. To achieve this, we work closely with our excellent recruitment team, holding regular weekly meetings for alignment and feedback. Daily tasks also include interpreting job specifications, reviewing CVs, and conducting interviews.

I enjoy the variety of projects, the flexibility, and the culture here. There’re ample opportunities to create and grow our teams, attend training courses and conferences, and receive support and trust from my leadership to explore new roles within Expleo.

In September 2023, I had the opportunity to apply for and be interviewed for the role of Capability Lead through an internal job posting. It was an excellent chance to have my contributions to the company and my experience in the marine industry recognised.
