Tell us a little about yourself
I originate from the Philippines, where I began a career in Software Development before moving to Singapore, Hong Kong, and then Australia. My knowledge in Cobol Mainframe for the finance industry and Cobol AS400 for the insurance industry was my passport to work overseas. Due to the global financial crisis in 2008, I decided a career change would be beneficial, finding an area where I could have more flexibility across IT systems but also enjoy the benefit of taking my work to other countries. This is how I entered the world of QA and arrived in Ireland, working in Finance, Telecoms, Retail, Insurance, and Healthcare industries. Outside of work, I love traveling, photography, reading books, and watching international films and tv series from all over the world.
A typical day at work
I begin the day with meeting the test teams for updates on ongoing test execution and in the afternoon, I am usually involved in defect triage calls with various stakeholders.
Writing test specifications and test reporting.
Reviewing testers’ defects and helping the test team reach deadlines and execution targets.

What interests/ excites you about QA?
Some of the main reasons I enjoy working in QA is the wide variety of industries, countries, and systems this profession has allowed me to access over the years. All types of organisations all over the world need some element of software or digital transformation to help their business succeed, so QA is an important cog in a big wheel!

How would you describe the culture at Expleo?
I would describe the culture in Expleo as fun, diverse, sociable, engaging, and welcoming! Expleo as an organisation is inspired by growth, whether it be employee growth or business growth. I work in a busy environment which keeps me stimulated but at the same time, there is comfort in knowing my employer wants me to have fun at work and not burn out from exhaustion. It is all about the work-life balance, with an emphasis on well-being within Expleo.

I joined Expleo as a QA Coordinator and quickly progressed into a QA lead position, with the help and support of Expleo. Management has always encouraged the importance of personal growth.
